Status: The bill passed the Senate March 23, 2009 by a 26-4 vote. It passed the House 95-52 on April 2, 2009. Gov. Douglas vetoed the bill on April 6, 2009. Both chambers overrode the Governor’s veto on April 7, 2009 by a 23-5 vote in the Senate and a 100-49 vote in the House. The new law becomes effective September 1, 2009.
