Credit Suisse to Receive Greater New York Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Award
NEW YORK – The Greater New York Steering Committee of the Human Rights Campaign has announced that Credit Suisse will receive the 2011 Corporate Equality Award in honor of their commitment to equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees, consumers, and investors. The award will be presented at the 2011 Greater New York Gala Dinner which will take place on February 5, 2011 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
Credit Suisse was chosen for the honor based on its strong and ongoing commitment to its LGBT employees. The company has received a perfect 100% rating on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index for the past five years and is on track for another 100% on the CEI including the new more rigorous qualifications regarding transgender healthcare coverage and other issues. A local sponsor for several years, Credit Suisse deserves special recognition for the development of its “Open Perspectives” program. The program was designed to educate LGBT MBA students about being “out” in their careers within the financial services sector and more specifically, how Credit Suisse’s culture supports LGBT employees.
The Greater New York Gala Dinner is one of HRC’s most prestigious events of the year, attracting over 1,000 of the organization’s most active leaders, supporters, and members. The event regularly draws political officials from federal, state and local governments as well as celebrity entertainers and leaders in the business community.
“We are honored to have such a strong corporate ally in our efforts toward achieving equality for the LGBT community,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “Credit Suisse’s commitment to creating a fair and equal workplace both within its walls and beyond is key to helping change perceptions and ending discrimination against LGBT people.”
