Indiana HJR 7/SJR 15
Summary: These resolutions propose a constitutional amendment, to be agreed to by 2 consecutive general assemblies and ratified by a majority of voters, that would provide that “only marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Indiana. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized.”
Status: These resolutions were introduced January 14, and January 15, 2009, respectively, and assigned to the House and Senate Committees on Judiciary. The Senate Republican caucus voted not to consider the resolution, which means it is unlikely to advance in this legislative session.
