Michigan H.B. 4091

This bill would require school districts and public school academies to adopt policies prohibit harassment, bullying, or intimidation motivated by, among other things, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.

New York S.B. 1571

These bills, called the "Dignity for all Students Act" would prohibit harassment and discrimination of students based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, among other grounds.

Oklahoma SJR 21

This resolution would amend the state constitution to read, "Civil unions between persons of the same gender shall be prohibited in this state. Civil unions between persons of the same gender granted in another state shall not be recognized as valid and binding in this state."

New York A.B. 1613

This bill, the "SAFETY" Act, authorizes the Office of Children and Family Services to establish policies and procedures affording all children in OCFS facilities an environment free of harassment and discrimination based on, among other things, actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender, or sex.

New York A.B. 8710

This bill would forbid a judge from taking into consideration a parent’s decision to undergo gender reassignment in the context of a case involving child custody, or from prohibiting a parent from undergoing gender reassignment as a condition of receiving custody.

Minnesota S.B. 1398/H.B. 1589

This bill would permit designation of a domestic partner who would have rights of hospital visitation and health care decision making.

New York A.B. 4526/S.B. 2416

These bills would expand eligibility for those who receive crime victims’ compensation to include domestic partners (as defined by the bill).

Vermont SB 80

This bill would permit same-sex couples to marry.

New York Program Bill 36

This bill would create a state "religious freedom restoration act", providing that someone whose free exercise of religion is "substantially burdened" by a rule of general applicability may assert a defense against the rule in a judicial proceeding and the government would have to show that the rule furthers a compelling governmental interest and is the least restrictive means of furthering that interest.

New York A.B. 866

This bill would provide civil remedies for victims of bias-motivated violence. Covered categories include sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.
