My older sister is my role model

"My older sister (12 years older) is my role model, my heart, my best friend. When she hurts, I hurt. Right now, she's hurting because every day some politician is spreading prejudicial discrimination against her. I don't feel right saying, "My sister is a lesbian" because I don't think she says, "My sister is straight." Basically, who cares? My sister is many things, she's smart, talented, warm and determined. She is loving, kind, creative and funny. She is gorgeous inside and out! To deny my sister, and those who love as she does, the basic right to marriage makes me angry. I would have hoped that we could have moved further ahead in this day and age. It makes me sad that politicians can use hatred as their campaign tool. I am straight. I am sad that most of the "good guys" are not but hey, what can ya; do? :)
I hope all of you have a family like mine, not a perfect family, not a family who "gets everything" -- but a family where at least you can have an amazing bond like I do with my sister, and my "sister-in-law."
