Summary: This bill would permit designation of a domestic partner who would have rights of hospital visitation and health care decision making.
Status: On March 22, 2007, the Senate Committee on Health, Housing and Family Security recommended passage and re-referred the bill to the Judiciary Committee. On March 21, 2007, the House Committee on Health and Human Services recommended passage. On April 16, 2007, the Senate Judiciary Committee recommended passage, as amended. On April 30, 2007, the Senate voted 43-21 to pass the bill. On May 3, 2007, the Senate bill was received by the House and referred for comparison with the House bill; the bills were found not to be identical and the Senate version was substituted. On May 4, 2007, the House bill was read for a second time and then indefinitely postponed.
