My Moms

by Jacob D. Williams (Cheverly, Md.)

My name is Jacob Williams and I am a 12-year-old boy. I have two moms, Teresa and Jo. I also have a brother and a sister. My moms love us very much and we love them very much too. We have fun together and do lots of things like go to museums, shows, ball games, parks, the beach and more.

Although our day-to-day life would not change if they got married, I know that there are some good benefits that they would get if they were legally married. If they got married then a lot of things that married people get right away would be available, especially if something happened to one of them.

To me it makes no sense that if you love someone and want to marry them that you can't. It seems very outdated to mind if someone is in love with someone of the same sex. It seems similar to saying that you can't marry someone because of skin color or how much money they have or where they were born or if their names are Montague or Capulet.

Nobody should get married if they don't want to, but if two people love each other then they should be able to get married if they want. A marriage should stand for love, commitment and a special bond. Why not a man and a man's love or a woman and a woman's?
