Summary: This bill provides that a municipality may make benefits available to an employee’s unmarried “adult designee” but it may not describe the relationship as a domestic partnership or civil union and it may not create a registry called a domestic partner registry. (This will allow Salt Lake City to maintain its new domestic partner registry, though it will have to change the name).
Status: This bill passed the legislature and was signed into law by the Governor on March 13, 2008.
