Sermons & Spiritual Reflections: Lent
Rev. Anne Fowler
St. John’s Episcopal Church in Jamaica Plain, MA
April 2006
HRC archives a collection of Sermons and Spiritual Reflections by pro-GLBT clergy from across the country. Drawing from the holy texts of their faith traditions, the authors of each selection present perspectives that affirm the lives of the GLBT faithful and advocate for equality from their faith tradition. The collection’s interview transcriptions, sermons, coming out worship celebrations and spiritual contemplations are ideal for either group study or individual reflection.
Excerpt:
“I could write at length at why we need marriage. I could go on about adopting our children and needing to move out of New Hampshire to do so I could write about Social Security and health insurance. But I didn’t marry her twice because I feared our health care proxy would be challenged. I married her because I love her. I feel honored to be her wife.”
