True Colors Launches, Includes Grassroots Hate Crime Action

TRUE COLORS TOUR LAUNCHES, INCLUDES GRASSROOTS HATE CRIMES ACTION
WASHINGTON — The highly anticipated True Colors Tour kicked off on Friday, June 8, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The tour, which benefits the Human Rights Campaign, has already played in multiple cities across the country.
Today, the Human Rights Campaign released photos from the Washington, D.C., stop of the tour which was on Sunday, June 17, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion.Download high-resolution photos from the Washington, D.C., concert.
Additionally, the Human Rights Campaign produced a video focusing on passage of the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act that is being shown at each stop of the tour. This video, along with other activities during the concert, are part of an effort to mobilize grassroots action for passage of the legislation. View the video.
The True Colors Tour was conceived by Cyndi Lauper stemming from her desire to give back to the community for the love and support they have given her throughout her career.Through a joint program with the Human Rights Campaign — the nation’s largest organization working for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality — as well as Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays and the Matthew Shepard Foundation, the True Colors Tour will bring together Americans across the country to voice their solidarity against discrimination and for equality and raise public awareness about the issues facing the GLBT community. One dollar of every ticket sold will benefit the work of the Human Rights Campaign.
