This year’s midterm elections are tremendously important for equality. An energized right-wing base is poised to halt the progress we’ve made. No matter what state you live in, it’s important for you to vote early or head to the polls on November 2.

Consider what’s at stake. In Delaware, Christine O’Donnell is on the record believing homosexuality can be cured. Representative Patrick Murphy – the lead sponsor of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal in the House – is facing a fierce challenge from conservative Mike Fitzpatrick. In New York, Anthony Cuomo has vowed to make marriage equality law, while his opponent Carl Paladino has said homosexuality isn’t a “valid and successful option.” And in Minnesota, gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer has ties to a group that supported the execution of homosexuals.
