Choosing a Summer Camp
"Predator ... 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... Prey!" Such are the sounds of summer camps across the country as thousands of young people, counselors, cooks and other staff gather to play hard and build a community experience that can give children the time of their lives.
But how many camps embrace the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender parents and GLBT youth? And how can you find a camp that will allow your child to experience the joys of camp without fear of harassment, discrimination or exclusion?
One option is to attend a summer program that is specifically designed for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender family members. Another is to identify a program that offers the activities you or your child desires and research if it is GLBT-friendly.
