Gift Options for Same-Sex Unions
When Rajesh and Travis Samson of Columbus, Ohio, had their commitment ceremony, they asked their guests to skip the blenders and sets of crystal and honor them by joining the Human Rights Campaign in its fight for equal protections for all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
"Our hope is that by encouraging new members and donations, we could contribute in some small way toward the goal of securing the right to marry," said Rajesh. They were especially encouraged that about one-third of the guests who joined HRC were heterosexual. "What better way, is there for us to win equal rights than by encouraging more support from our straight family members?" Rajesh asked.
