Proud of Her Two Moms
By Brenna
I am the daughter of two loving parents — my mom and her partner of 12 years, Rachael. I am very proud to call them my moms, and it breaks my heart to know that no matter what I do, they don’t have the same rights as any other devoted couple.
As the daughter of a lesbian couple, I have taken it in my hands to show the world that two mothers can raise a normal, healthy and outgoing child. I am no different from the son or daughter of a husband and a wife. I am now attending college, working a full-time job and have a very successful college career going.
I can't stand it when people say that adoption by two mothers or two dads would undermine society, because I was loved more by my two moms than any other people in the world, and I realize more and more that I've had it better with two moms that love each other than if I'd had two straight parents who stayed together for the kids — so to speak.
I'm lucky to have my moms. And to know that they are denied marriage certificate with their names on it gives me something to fight for.
