Legitimacy As a Parent

I recently adopted the son my partner bore 18 months ago. It was really important to my sense of legitimacy as a parent to adopt him and now I am tied to him forever. No matter what happens to my partner, or between the two of us, my son can always be assured equal access to both of us.
