Sermons & Spiritual Reflections: It’s Time for This to Change

Rev. Joe Hoffman
First Congregational UCC of Asheville, NC
Feb. 19, 2006

HRC archives a collection of Sermons and Spiritual Reflections by pro-GLBT clergy from across the country.  Drawing from the holy texts of their faith traditions, the authors of each selection present perspectives that affirm the lives of the GLBT faithful and advocate for equality from their faith tradition.  The collection’s interview transcriptions, sermons, coming out worship celebrations and spiritual contemplations are ideal for either group study or individual reflection.

Excerpt:
“I long for the day when our children can marry whomever they love – without having to live in fear, without having to be oppressed. I long for the day that parents of gays and lesbians do not have to worry about how their children will be treated in school – or in church – or in the work place – or in the public square – or by the laws of our land. I long for the day when a child who has two mothers or two fathers can know that he or she is part of a real family – not some strange abnormal living arrangement that others make fun of. I long for a time when we can all feel the blessing of God for who we are.”
