Ohio Birth Certificate Law: Gender Identity Issues
Issues a new or amended birth certificate? No.
Ohio law provides generally that its citizens may amend their birth certificates. However, in a 1987 case an Ohio court held that a birth registrants’ right to make general amendments to their birth certificate information did not include amendments to sex information for individuals who have undergone sex-reassignment surgery.
