Attention College Students! Make a Difference This Summer

Fight for Equality with HRC’s Campaign College
Summer 2007

Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to motivate people to take action? Do you want to be a part of history in the making? If so, join us for the Human Rights Campaign’s 2007 Campaign College!

This is an exciting time for the Human Rights Campaign and the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. For 12 years, HRC has been working to get the Employment Non-Discrimination Act passed through Congress. Currently, in 33 states, it’s legal to fire an employee for being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. ENDA would provide basic protections against workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. This year we have a real opportunity to finally see this legislation made into law. And we need your help.

Fifteen energetic participants in HRC’s 2007 Campaign College will be flown to Washington, D.C., for an intensive week of hands-on training on how to run a field plan. After mastering the basic skills of field organizing, participants will spend the summer in targeted locations across the nation where senators or representatives most need to hear from GLBT-supportive voices. Participants will receive ongoing training and direct mentorship from HRC’s regional field directors, while they practice their new skills by organizing and mobilizing local HRC communities around the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

This program is open to anyone over age 18 who has the desire and passion to be a part of this vital campaign to end discrimination in the workplace. Participants will receive a weekly stipend from HRC, and community housing will be provided.   The skills you learn will last a lifetime.  Many of our College graduates have gone on to be leaders in LGBT and progressive organizations around the country. Applications Due: April 9, 2007
