I Ask for Nothing Less than Marriage Equality
By Pete Webb
I am a 32-year-old African-American man currently living in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area and have been out of the closet since my late teens. I have been active with HRC and the HRC Federal Club for several years. While I am not currently in a relationship I do believe that all Americans should have the right to love and marry equally.
It is not OK for my government to discriminate against me because of my sexual orientation. I have my family of birth and my family of choice. I will not allow my family or government to deny my rights. Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people deserve to have love, respect and dignity.
I know that someday I will meet my soul mate and someday have a wedding or commitment ceremony in Texas. I ask for nothing less than marriage equality.
