A Beautiful Day
On September 22, 2007, my partner and I were married in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
It was a beautiful day on the beach and we were surrounded by our closest friends and family. The sunset was gorgeous and the weather was so warm. We were really blessed.
The reception was wonderful and we enjoyed partying with our friends late into the night. The next day we discovered that they had decorated our car. At first we laughed...and then we cried...knowing that once we drove out of the safe-haven of Provincetown, where onlookers honked and cheered, we'd be entering another world, the world where we live. The world where we have to look over our shoulders and not kiss in public or stand to close for fear of those who hate us, simply for loving each other.
We both look forward to the day where all gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender people can celebrate our long fight for equality. We just have to remember that it's always darkest before the dawn.
