Stay True to Your Dreams

familyI just want to share my story to give a little hope and support for living your life for you and for what you believe in. Growing up, I knew there was something different about me but growing up in a Catholic family, going to a Catholic school and having Catholic friends, I just adjusted to whatever was the 'norm'.

Not until my Junior year in school that I had my first major girlfriend. We were together for 3 years. I thought I had discovered who I was but there was still a small percentage of me thinking -- "is this really me". In that small percentage, a child was born -- my son. After I had my son, I knew I was a lesbian. I knew what I wanted for my life and my future family. I knew I wanted a little girl. I knew I wanted to adopt her.

An opportunity came when I was in my last relationship. We were ending and it was painful. I thought it was hard finding a wife but becoming a mother the second time around was looking more easy.

While finishing up my classes for adoption, I met my current girlfriend. I thought this would be great if she would join in and we could do it together. But I chose to move forward on my own, because I was mentally, physically, and emotionally ready.  I adopted my daughter. This was a dream come true for me.

Stay true to your dreams and everything else will work out. It's not always easy but the outcome is worth it.
