At the Intersection: LGBT Civil Rights are the Defining Issue of our Day

Thank you for the timely report that addresses so many of the issues facing the entire LGBT Community. My parents and grandparents worked for economic and societal rights of the 50’s and 60’s Civil Rights movement. LGBT Civil Rights are the defining issue of our day. As a gay African American I long for the day that I can share the same legal and financial benefits with my spouse as my heterosexual brothers and sisters. I am proud of my longtime support of the Human Rights Campaign.

As a bisexual Latina artist with many friends who are gay, lesbian and transgender, I thought the report was really beautifully done. It highlighted the important idea that most LBGT people of color are concerned with the same issues that concern people from all walks of life, like job security, education, healthcare and personal safety. I felt that the report mirrored many of the experiences that my friends and I have had, both positive and negative.
