Fairness Advances in Colorado

Soon, gay and transgender employees will be protected from discrimination in Colorado, thanks to a new law signed by Gov. Bill Ritter. In most states, however, discrimination against GLBT workers is still legal.

Gallup Poll Shows Record Support for Equality

Almost 90 percent of the American public believes gays and lesbians should have equal job opportunities, a new Gallup poll says. It also found that a full 75 percent of young people ages 18 to 34 supports acceptance of GLBT equality. And nearly half of those polled support legal marriage rights for same-sex couples.

Tell Your Lawmaker: End Workplace Injustice

In 31 states, it's legal to fire someone for being gay. And in 39 states, you can be fired for being transgender. Go to http://www.passENDANow.org/ to tell your representatives to support fairness.

Clock in for Equality

You Can Be Fired for Being GLBT

Kimya Afi Ayodele was fired from her job as a social worker simply because she was a lesbian. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, introduced this week in Congress, would make it illegal to to fire, refuse to hire or refuse to promote an employee based on the person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
