Kansas Sodomy Law

Kansas’ sodomy law was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court on June 26, 2003, as a result of the Court’s decision in Lawrence v. Texas, No. 02-102 (U.S. June 26, 2003). Kansas had a sodomy law that was applicable only to same-sex couples. “Sodomy between persons who are 16 or more years of age and members of the same-sex” was punishable with up to six months in prison/$1,000 fine. K.S.A. § 21-3505 (2001).
