Maryland law does not explicitly address discrimination based on gender identity.

Sexual orientation protected? Yes
Maryland law explicitly prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation in public accommodations, housing, and public and private employment. Sexual orientation is defined as "the identification of an individual as to male or female homosexuality, heterosexuality or bisexuality." Md. Ann. Code art. 49B § 5 (2001). The Code of Fair Employment Practices also prohibits employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. COMAR 01.01.1995.19 (2002).
