Massachusetts Birth Certificate Law: Gender Identity Issues

Issues a new or amended birth certificate? Yes.
Massachusetts law provides that a transsexual individual may amend his or her birth certificate upon receipt of physician’s notarized statement that the person named on the birth certificate has completed sex-reassignment surgery, along with a copy of a name change order.
