Iowa non-discrimination law, as of 2007, extends to "gender identity”, which is defined as “a gender-related identity of a person, regardless of the person’s assigned sex at birth."  Iowa Code, Chapter 216; 216.2(10) (definitions).

Sexual orientation protected? Yes
Iowa non-discrimination law, as of 2007, extends to “sexual orientation” which is defines as” actual or perceived heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality.” Iowa Code, Chapter 216; 216.2(14) (definitions).
