Gender identity protected? Yes
The definition of sexual orientation in the Illinois Human Rights Act includes, “gender-related identity, whether or not traditionally associated with the person’s designated sex at birth.”  775 ILCS 5/1-102. The Illinois Human Rights Act as it pertains to gender-related identity prohibits discrimination in employment, real-estate transactions, access to financial credit and the availability of public accommodations.
