Missouri law does not allow for a partner to make decisions on behalf of his or her incapacitated same-sex partner. § 431.061.Missouri law allows an adult to designate another individual to make health care decisions on his or her behalf. § 404.805. The power of attorney is subscribed by the principal, and dated and acknowledged in the manner prescribed by law for conveyances of real estate (notarized, witnessed). § 404.705. An adult may also make an advance healthcare directive for withholding or withdrawing life support. § 459.015.
