Early Treatment for HIV Act Reintroduced in U.S. House - 08-02-2007
Today, Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., reintroduced the Early Treatment for HIV Act, a bipartisan bill that will save lives by allowing states to provide Medicaid coverage to low-income, HIV-positive Americans.

Representatives for passing a resolution by voice vote honoring the late
David Ray Ritcheson. Ritcheson, the victim of a brutal hate crime
because he was Mexican-American, had testified in April 2007 before the
Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security of the House
Judiciary Committee in support of the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes
Prevention Act (H.R. 1592) which provides local law enforcement with
critical resources to combat bias-motivated violence.

New Report Shows Major Increase in Basic Workplace Protections for Gay, Transgender Employees - 07-24-2007
The number of Fortune 500 companies that ban workplace discrimination for transgender Americans has risen 60 percent since Jan. 2006 and has quadrupled since 2003, according to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s "State of the Workplace for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Americans 2006-2007," released today.
